The 2025 WA Australians of the Year, Dianne and Ian Haggerty visited the Foundation this week. As agriculture pioneers, the pair shared their deep commitment to sustainable farming practices and environmental restoration. Known for their innovative work in regenerative agriculture, the Haggartys discussed their experience nurturing the microbiome of the soil on their 26,000 hectares of farmland in the northeastern wheatbelt of Western Australia.
Their visit was an opportunity for Forrest researchers to listen to Dianne and Ian’s journey, and modern farming techniques, including utilising natural systems for the cultivation of healthy cereal plants. The insights they shared highlight a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to farming, that could change the way we think about food production globally.
