The Forrest Research Foundation invites you to its National Science Week Showcase 2026! Join us at Forrest Hall for an afternoon of science, where you can hear from researchers, explore interactive exhibits and chat directly with scientists.

The event is designed for people of all ages and backgrounds, making science accessible, interactive and enjoyable for everyone.

• Keynote Talks are short, 12-minute talks where researchers share their work in a clear and accessible way, with a few minutes afterwards for questions and speaker changeovers.
• Hands-on Science Stations are interactive setups where visitors can explore research up close, through equipment, models, experiments, games or demonstrations.
• Ask-a-Scientist is an informal conversation space where you can chat directly with researchers, ask questions, and explore scientific ideas without slides or formal talks. 

We’ve partnered with Supersonic Science to deliver exciting, hands-on experiences for children and families at our showcase.

Here’s a taste of what’s in store:

• CO2 Rockets (Acid/Base reactions)
• Vortex Cannons (Fluid dynamics)
• Supersonic Slime (Non-Newtonian Fluids)
• Super absorbent polymers – Supersonic Snow
• Elephant’s Toothpaste (Exothermic Reactions)
• Gravity defying soda pop
• Burning Bubbles (Surface tension and combustion)
• Levitating beach ball (Bernoulli’s principle)

Parking: Along Hackett Drive and within the grounds of UWA (unfortunately, no parking is available at the Forrest Research Foundation)

Cost: The event is free, but registration is required to attend
