We are proud to announce Forrest Creative Fellow Dr Madison Godfrey has been awarded a 2025 Red Room Poetry Fellowship. The annual residency program recognises the achievements and artistic goals of contemporary Australian poets and is presented in partnership with Varuna – the National Writers House.
Dr Godfrey will receive a stipend, mentorship and a week-long residency. Their work will also be showcased as part of Poetry Month 2025, including 30in30 poetry commissions and a live reading at Varuna.
As a writer, editor, educator and the author of two books, Dr Godfrey has performed at the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Albert Hall, St Paul’s Cathedral and Glastonbury Festival as a performative poet. Their current research focuses on the experimental intersection of creativity and theory: incorporating poetry, gender and fandom studies.
