This morning, our early-career researchers gathered for an informal breakfast with celebrated clinical neurologist, Professor Kevin Talbot. Over coffee, Professor Talbot, who has spent decades at the forefront of motor neuron disease, shared his remarkable journey and reflected on pivotal moments which have shaped his distinguished career.
As Head of the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN) at the University of Oxford, Professor Talbot qualified in medicine (MB BS) with Distinction from the University of London, going on to train in neurology in both London and Oxford.
During the morning, he shared insights into the impact of motor neuron diseases and the far-reaching effects neurodegenerative diseases have on those diagnosed. As a renowned scholar and practitioner, he touched on his research in identifying targets for therapy in motor neuron diseases and his approach to clinical work.
With many of our researchers focused on the field of health covering everything from biomedical engineering to neuropsychology, it was a meaningful discussion which highlighted the complexities of cognitive health and neurological diseases.
