Forrest Hall hosted a thought-provoking conversation on 29 July between members of the Western Australian Parliamentary Friends of the Arts and members of the Forrest community, highlighting the vital role of the arts in Western Australia’s future.
Dan Bull MLA, Member for Maylands, and Sandra Brewer MLA GAICD, Shadow Treasurer and Member for Cottesloe, joined Forrest researchers and Fellows to explore the cultural, social and economic contributions of the arts, as well as the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.
Discussions covered topics including the impact of artificial intelligence on the artistic community, the value of embodied knowledge and learning, and ways to support and strengthen Western Australia’s creative industries.
The conversation featured contributions from Forrest Foundation alumni Dr Jo Pollitt and Dr Cassandra Tytler, alongside current Creative and Performing Leadership Fellows Dr Madison Godfrey (Curtin University) and Dr Niamh Dell (The University of Western Australia), who shared insights from their research and creative practice.
The event highlighted the important role of collaboration between researchers, artists and policymakers in shaping a vibrant and innovative cultural future for Western Australia.
