The Forrest Research Foundation was honoured to welcome Professor Fiona Wood, a renowned surgeon, entrepreneur, innovator and 2005 Australian of the Year, as a Distinguished Forrest Researcher this week.
Known for inventing “spray on skin” technology for burns victims, Professor Wood visited Forrest Hall to share insights from her illustrious career and her profound belief in the critical roles of research, collaboration, and empathy.
She was joined by Forrest Alumna, Dr Lucy Furfaro where they discussed her sources of inspiration, breaking down barriers and the next frontier in healing.
Professor Wood conveyed a poignant sentiment: “Every scar tells a story”, in which she highlighted that behind each story lies an individual deserving of dignity, quality care, and the hope of recovery.
