Dr Bhedita Seewoo
The Forrest Scholarship has given me the opportunity to invest all my time and energy into my true passion – my research.

Bhedita’s doctoral research explored the use of MRI technology to examine the effects of brain stimulation on brain activity, chemistry and structure in preclinical models with a view to assist humans suffering from depression. Bhedita was driven by intense intellectual curiosity and the determination to make a difference in people’s lives.

“The FRF scholarship has made an enormous difference in my life giving me the opportunity to do a PhD and collaborate with the Mayo Clinic (USA) which has the potential to help vast numbers of people. Upon completion of my PhD, I received an honourable mention from the Board of the Graduate Research School Dean’s List at UWA for an outstanding thesis. Because making a difference is of paramount importance to me, I am now working with the Plastics team at the Minderoo Foundation to gather evidence of the effects of plastic chemicals on human health.”
