Forrest Fellow Dr Neil Robinson named Early Career Scientist of the Year

22 August 2024

Congratulations to Forrest Fellow Dr Neil Robinson who received the 2024 Early Career Scientist of the Year award at the WA Premier’s Science Awards.

Dr Robinson’s research concentrates on designing and understanding next generation materials needed for the energy economy. With decarbonisation applications, his work focuses on biofuel production and the efficient transportation of hydrogen fuel.

Dr Robinson’s prize was awarded jointly with Dr Pamela Laird, a Clinician-Research Fellow at Telethon Kids Institute and Perth Children’s Hospital focused on reducing chronic respiratory disease burden in Aboriginal children.

This follows Forrest Fellow Alumni Dr David Gozzard receiving the prestigious award in 2023. As an experimental physicist, Dr Gozzard’s work focuses on developing laser measurement and communication technology for spacecraft.

Furthermore, we celebrate Forrest Research Foundation Alumni Dr Lucy Furfaro and Dr Kieran Mulroney, who were also finalists within this category. Their outstanding scientific research is recognised in making this esteemed shortlist.

The Early Career Scientist of the Year Award recognises excellence in the field of science, scientific research or technological advancement and is awarded to scientists within the first five years of completing their highest degree.
