The Forrest Research Foundation welcomed Bill Diamond, President and CEO of the SETI Institute for a week of engagements with the WA academic community, space specialists and Forrest researchers.
During his stay, Mr Diamond toured several academic and research facilities, including the Square Kilometre Array Observatory in Murchison and visited the University of Western Australia’s International Space Centre.
He also met and engaged with faculty and students at Curtin University and Edith Cowan University, answering questions on the study of life in the Universe and the work of SETI.
A highlight of the week was the public launch of the Perth Dialogue, Beyond Earth: The Case for Space, a collection of essays which explores the impact of space research to which Mr Diamond contributed. The launch event bought together the academic and local community to explore how reaching for the stars is changing the way we live, innovate and understand our universe
His stay coincided with a visit from Dr Shawna Pandya, the first female Canadian commercial astronaut, giving the Foundation a unique opportunity to connect with leaders from multiple areas of space exploration.
