It was a privilege to welcome Professor Paul Harpur OAM to the Foundation this morning. As an Australian Research Council Future Fellow at the University of Queensland’s T. C. Beirne School of Law, we were delighted he could join us for an informal breakfast with our early-career researchers.
Recognised internationally as an acclaimed legal scholar, dedicated to advancing disability rights and inclusion, Professor Harpur has been visiting Perth as part of a speaking tour for the International Day for People with Disability.
During the conversation, Professor Harpur, who is also an associate with Harvard Law School Project on Disability, shared his wisdom on sourcing critical feedback, dealing with setbacks and normalising inclusion. He shared anecdotes from his remarkable personal journey, including representing Australia twice at the Paralympics. Professor Harpur’s visit was truly inspiring, allowing a deeper understanding into his impressive academic contributions, critical advocacy work and passion for positive change.
